A worked example
Find the slope-intercept form equation of the line passing through (3,13) and (8,18)
The slope formula is m=x2−x1y2−y1. Substitute the points (3,13) and (8,18):m=8−318−13=55=1
Now substitute m = 1 and the point (3,13) into y = mx + b:13=1(3)+b13=3+b
Solve for b:b=13−3=10
The equation in slope-intercept form is:y=x+10
