A worked example

Find the product of 38\frac{3}{8} and 57\frac{5}{7}.
  1. Multiply 38  ×  57\frac{3}{8} \; \times \; \frac{5}{7}.
  2. To multiply two fractions, multiply the numerators (top numbers) together and multiply the denominators (bottom numbers) together.\\[4pt]Numerators→3  ×  5=15\to 3 \; \times \; 5 = 15 \\[4pt]Denominators→8  ×  7=56\to 8 \; \times \; 7 = 56 \\[4pt]The product is 1556\frac{15}{56}.
  3. The fraction is already in simplest form.
  4. The answer is 1556\frac{15}{56}.
