A worked example

Calculate 3n+2 3n + 2\, when n  =  9n \; = \; 9.
  1. We need to find the value of 3n+2 3n + 2\, when n  =  9n \; = \; 9.\\Replace n n\, with 9:→3×9+2\\ \to 3 \times 9 + 2
  2. Multiply before adding or subtracting:3×9  =  27→27  +  2  =  29\\ 3 \times 9 \; = \; 27 \\ \to 27 \; + \; 2 \; = \; 29
  3. The answer is 29.
